Ear wax, or cerumen, is produced naturally as a protective coating in the ears, helping to prevent infection and remove debris. However, when too much wax builds up, it can become impacted and cause a variety of issues, including:
- Itchy, blocked, or painful ears
- Muffled hearing and potential hearing loss
- A sensation of fullness in the ears
- Ringing or buzzing sounds (tinnitus)
- Balance problems, dizziness, and vertigo
- Compromised performance of hearing aids
Professional Ear Wax Removal Services
When performed by a qualified practitioner, ear wax removal is painless, quick, and very effective. At Listen Hear Care, we will visit you in the comfort of your home. After completing a health check questionnaire and examining your ears, we can proceed with ear wax removal if necessary.
Methods of Ear Wax Removal
We offer two primary methods for ear wax removal:
• Microsuction: This is the preferred method where a small suction probe is used to gently and safely remove the wax from your ear canal.
• Irrigation: If the wax in your ear is very wet or you prefer this method, a controlled jet of warm water will be used to gently wash the wax out of your ear canal.
Cost and Consultation
The cost for ear wax removal is £60. If the examination shows no wax is present, there will be a call-out charge of £20; however, you will also be offered a free hearing check to ensure everything is okay.
